Getting Your Playhouse Ready

Congratulations on your new KidKraft Playhouse! To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for your children, please read this guide carefully before beginning assembly.

What to Expect

Most KidKraft playhouses require partial to full assembly. Depending on the model, assembly typically takes 2 to 4 hours with two adults working together. We strongly recommend having a second person help — it makes the process much faster and safer.

Before You Begin — Checklist

✅ Unbox all parts and lay them out on a clean, flat surface ✅ Count all pieces against the parts list included in the box ✅ Check that all hardware (screws, bolts, brackets) is present ✅ Read the model-specific instruction manual included in the box ✅ Gather tools you may need: a rubber mallet, Phillips screwdriver, and adjustable wrench ✅ Choose your installation location before assembly (outdoor models should be placed on flat, level ground)

Outdoor Playhouse Installation Tips

  • Place the playhouse on a flat, level surface such as grass, packed dirt, or patio
  • Avoid placing it on slopes or unstable ground
  • Keep the playhouse away from fences, walls, or overhead obstacles
  • Ensure there is at least 6 feet of clear space on all sides
  • For permanent installation, consider anchoring the playhouse to the ground using ground anchors (sold separately)
  • Outdoor playhouses should be placed in a shaded area when possible to keep the interior cool in summer

Indoor Playhouse Setup Tips

  • Measure your room before assembly to ensure the playhouse fits comfortably
  • Keep the playhouse away from stairs, sharp furniture edges, and heaters
  • Place on a flat, non-slip surface
  • Ensure there is enough overhead clearance, especially for tent-style or tall frame models

Assembly Steps (General)

  1. Open and organize all parts by type (panels, frames, hardware, accessories)
  2. Follow the numbered steps in your included instruction manual
  3. Do not fully tighten bolts until all parts are connected — this allows for adjustments
  4. Once fully assembled, go back and tighten all bolts and screws securely
  5. Check all connections before allowing children to use the playhouse
  6. Test slides, doors, and windows to ensure they open and close smoothly

Safety Check Before First Use

Before your child plays in the new playhouse, please:

  • Check that all screws and bolts are fully tightened
  • Ensure there are no sharp edges or exposed hardware
  • Verify that the slide is securely attached
  • Make sure doors and windows open and close without pinching
  • Remove all packaging materials, zip ties, and protective films

Maintenance Tips

  • Inspect the playhouse every few months for loose bolts or wear
  • For outdoor models, apply a weatherproof wood sealant once a year to protect the wood
  • Clean surfaces with mild soap and water — avoid harsh chemicals
  • Store cushions, flags, and fabric accessories indoors during heavy rain or winter months
  • Cover outdoor playhouses with a waterproof cover during extended periods of non-use
